1. How do you, as an EFAS National Society, experience EFAS?

I had the opportunity to attend the birth of EFAS in the first person, take over from Ramón Rochera member of the Council of EFAS in its foundation (1998-2000) and have the honor of being treasurer during the years 2000-2002. Since then, the Spanish presence in Course and Congresses has been important.

Surely, a relationship that enjoys an excellent state of health and very productive on both sides.

2. In your opinion, what will be the impact of our societies in the future of foot and ankle surgery?

Foot and Ankle surgery is gaining a great boom, both at the National and International and global levels. Many factors contribute to this enormous growth are the large number of implants developed by the companies, the extensive training program of the Scientific Societies, the greater demand on the part of both the patient and our young doctors in training.

In the SEMCPT, there are currently 16 Accredited Fellowships Host Units that can be consulted on our website (www.semcpt.es) where the areas of expertise of each of them are listed.
In short, the role of the Scientific Societies in the future of foot and ankle surgery will be paramount.

3. SEMCPT organizes a wide range of courses, please tell us more about the events scheduled for the upcoming months.

The SEMCPT offers an extensive training program in different lines. On the one hand, the National Congress is held in June with more than 300 attendees where two round tables are elected in the General Assembly; the Residents and the President of the Congress. On the other hand, we organized a Basic Ankle Arthroscopy Course together with the AEA (Spanish Association of Arthroscopy) where we offered 4 scholarships, and this year co-organized a Basic Course of Forefoot Surgery with the SECOT (Spanish Society of Orthopedic Surgery and Traumatology). In addition, we annually give scientific sponsorship to a number superior to 20 Courses, these Courses go from General Courses to Cadaveric Courses.

The commitment to the formation of the SEMCPT is important and always thinking of our members and doctors in training with a wide range of fellowships and stays in both National and European centers.
